Izmir Garanti Bank

"The building that was built as the Izmir Branch of the Ottoman Bank and positioned in the left corner of the entrance of Fevzi Pasha Boulevard of the district of Konak of the province of Izmir. The building that has been built by the Levantine Architect Giulio Mongeri in 1926, is one of the most important examples of the First National Architectural Movement. It is one of the leading buildings of the Early Republican era.
The restoration works that had been launched by the Garanti Bank Inc. in 2010, were completed in September of 2011 and the building was put into service as a bank branch again. The course and design were stood by the original and unique architecture of the building during the restoration work and especially, exterior premises and interventions that had been applied to the external walls in time were removed and the exterior walls were restored one more time in line with the original scars occurred as a result of plaster and paint scrapers on the facade of the additional building. Paints on the imitation plasters (imitation stone) on the facade that was the most important feature of the building were cleaned. Some completions were applied to the imitation plasters by cleaning, strengthening and use of appropriate and original materials complying with the unique pattern."
